Women's Ride Takes Shape: Saturday at 8:30am.

Come ye all women! Ride 40 miles and have fun while riding with the Women's Bicycle Team at Bicycle John's. Any and all levels of riders are welcome as we will have ride leaders in the front, middle and rear to ensure that no one is dropped. A clinic will follow and will cover topics such as safety, nutrition, riding necessities, must know maintenance, and women's fit on bikes. In addition to the clinic and ride, Bicycle John's will sponsor a women's tire changing contest. Three prizes for the contest to be handed out to first, second and third places. In addition, each participant will receive a goodie bag.

Bicycle Fits Available

Be comfortable on your bicycle! Take the pain out of your rides! Get max power out of every pedal stroke!

Sandra Kolb of Bicycle John's will be doing neutral bike fits at the Bicycle John's Booth at the Vendor Market. Sandra is Slow-Twitch certified and has been fitting cyclists and triathletes on bicycles for 3 years. The neutral fit ensures your knees are lined up properly, your seat is at the right height, and your stem is the correct length. You will leave with a fit card of your proper measurements and fit recommendations. The cost for a neutral fit is $35.

Ultra-Distance Competition

Each year, we provide a way for some riders who attend to really kill themselves and put in as many miles as they can during the Rally. And you too, can participate. For this, prizes are awarded to those entrants who ride the most miles from Saturday morning until 5 P.M. on Sunday. A bicycle odometer is required to enter this competition. Simply sign up, record your starting odometer reading, and then ride your hearts out for two days and then check in with your finishing odometer reading. Sign up on Friday evening in the commerical building.

Geo Cache Ride - What is that?

This is a high- tech version of hide and seek, geo caches hidden all over the globe, 40 are hidden within 10 miles of Paso Robles. Caches are hidden and contain a log book for you to register your find. Some are large enough to have small trade items.

If you take an item, leave something else in its place. You will need a GPS receiver and a pen for this ride. The coordinates for each cache are listed along with a unique 6 digit “waypoint” identifier for that cache. Once you return home, log in your finds using the waypoint identifier on the computerized database at www.geocaching.com. The ride is put together by Rally participants Jeff and Mike Bailey. NOTE: This route is NOT in your route packet. Pick it up at the registration table.

Clinic-Training Wheel Freedom

Is it time for those training wheels to come off? Dane Clark of the Orange County Wheelmen has designed a short 30 minute course to get kids off their training wheels. Saturday 11am - 12pm.

Want to Ride with A Group Leader?

This is a terrific way to meet some other riders attending. Stay tuned as to when these rides are. If you would like to volunteer as a group leader we'd love to have you. Please email sharon@greatwesternbicyclerally.com

Kenetic Koffee will be serving coffee during vendor hours and in the morning at 8:00am in the commercial building.
