Family
Fun
The
Rally is a perfect venue to share quality time with your family. Children under
the age of 5 come for free and we offer special family rates for both camping
and registration.
Bicycle
Roadeo
The Bicycle Roadeo is a great way to
introduce your children to bicycle skills and safety. This gives the Rally an
opportunity to educate parents and children about the safety aspects of riding
a bicycle on streets and roads. The goal is to empower young cyclists with a
minimal set of skills for on-road riding. A miniature "chalk street" course set
up in a parking lot where young cyclists are shown where and how to apply the
rules. The main focus of a bike rodeo is Cycling Safety for young cyclists,
age's kindergarten to 14 or so. The "Roadeo" is organized by the Barbara
Heughins and her volunteers.
Family Ride: Star Farms Stopover: 25 miles Many families ride out
to Star Farms, a lake with a sandy beach complete with tiki huts. How about
volleyball or croquet? Bring your lunch and swimming suit and make an outing of
it. Many riders and families spend most of their day there. Of course the Rally
offers many other rides, shorter and longer that are suitable for the
family.
Hill
Climb and Time Trial: Any event is open to all ages that are capable of
participating. You'll find father-son tandem teams on the 10 mile Time Trial or
young kids competing in the hill climb. These opportunities give young riders a
first taste of competition. These events are organized by the Cherry City
Cyclists of San Leandro.
Non-Cycling
Games and Activities: Each year fun activities such as the "Huffy Toss",
paper plane throwing contest and more are organized by the Lompoc Cycling Club
and Jim and Mary Wellington and their volunteers.
