Competitions
For
those with the competitive spirit, the Rally provides several competitions
during the weekend. Most award prizes for both males and females in a wide
range of age categories, so everyone has a chance at taking home an award. All
competitions are in the spirit of fun and even if you do not believe you have a
chance at winning; it can be fun just to see how you compare with other riders.
The following competitions take place during the Rally:
All Weekend Long
Ultra
Distance: For those who like to log a lot of miles, there is the Ultra
Distance competition. For this, prizes are awarded to those entrants who ride
the most miles from Saturday morning until 5 P.M. on Sunday. A bicycle odometer
is required to enter this competition. Simply sign up, record your starting

with your finishing odometer reading.

a time against the clock with spectators all along the course cheering them on.
Run by the Cherry City Cyclists of San Leandro., they time and officiate the
entire event
The

For those who like racing against the clock, there is a 10 mile time trial held
Saturday morning. The course is a 5 mile out and back course on a fairly flat

The
Bicycle Roadeo is a great way to introduce your children to bicycle skills and
safety. This gives the Rally an opportunity to educate parents and children
about the safety aspects of riding a bicycle on streets and roads. The goal is
to empower young cyclists with a minimal set of skills for on-road riding. A
miniature "chalk street" course set up in a parking lot where young cyclists

Cycling Safety for young cyclists, ages kindergarten to 14 or so. The "Roadeo"
is organized by Barbara Heughins and their volunteers.

strength in their legs in a different way. This is also held on the fairgrounds
on Sunday. (A shorter race is also held for little children.)
Kids

Sunday on the fairgrounds a
series of games just for the kids are held. Everyone is a winner taking home at
