Century
Route Information: Rings Around Paso - (102 miles):
This year's century as well as the metric
century will be fully supported (Sunday only with 3 rest stops) as was last
year's century rides. The last time this century was offered at the rally was
way back in 2003, and was named "Figure 8 Century". This year, we juggled and
rearranged the route a bit so it wouldn't be a true "figure 8", and we renamed
the ride. The temptation to cut the ride short can be very compelling. Although
the route requires no more physical strength than most centuries, you will need
superior mental strength and resolve to finish this one. The course is somewhat
of a figure 8 consisting of two loops centering on Paso Robles. The first loop
heads out south to Santa Margarita via Templeton and Atascadero. Very easy
riding. From Santa Margarita, it heads east for trip up Park Hill Road and down
Huero Road. There will be a temptation to skip this hill but mental resolve
will prevail. Then you head back towards Paso via Creston and Geneseo/Linne
Roads. The next temptation will be to head down Creston Road and back to the
fairgrounds. Harden your resolve and continue the route at Golden Hill Road for
the second loop which takes you north to San Miguel and then loops back into
town via Chimney Rock Road and Adelaida Road. So, are you up for it? Think you
have the mental fortitude? Give it a try. PROFILE: 4520 feet of elevation gain.
There are two major climbs: Park Hill on the first loop climbs approximately
1100 feet. Chimney Rock and Adelaida Roads on the second loop climbs
approximately 1500 feet. The remainder of the gain is in small hills. Mostly on
country roads with short portions on Highway 101 and Lake Nacimiento Road.

Metric
Century Route Information: Rings around Paso (62 miles):
Like the full century, the metric century makes two loops centering
on Paso Robles. The first loop heads south along River Rd. through the rolling
hills northeast of Templeton making it's way to the town of Creston for the
first rest stop. It then swings north coinciding with the full century route
heading back towards Paso via Creston and Geneseo/Linne Rds., going into the
second loop north of Paso Robles along the river to San Miguel It loops back to
the ride start via San Marcos and Lake Nacimiento Roads (skipping Chimney
Rock/Adelaida Rds. that are on the full century). Although not doing all the
climbing the full century encounters, the metric route does climb a couple of
hills of it's own including S. River Rd., S. El Pomar Rd., and Lake Nacimiento
Rd. PROFILE: Approximately 0000 feet of elevation gain. Most of the climbing is
in the first loop south including S. River and S. El Pomar Roads with a number
of short rolling hills. Coming back on Lake Nacimiento Rd., there are two
climbs totaling approximately 500 feet of climbing, but the final downhill into
town is worth the effort. Mostly on country roads with a short stretch on Hwy
101and on Lake Nacimiento Rd.
