About the Rally
Rally History
The Great
Western Bicycle Rally (GWBR) is a 47-year old event located in Paso Robles,
California, and takes place on every Memorial Day Weekend.
The Rally
has a rich and long history and is supported
by many loyal enthusiasts and Bicycle Club members that participate as
volunteers to make the Rally a success.
The Rally is held at the San
Luis Obispo County Fairgrounds (Paso Robles Event Center) located in Paso
Robles, California. Participants may tent camp or RV camp at the Fairgrounds or
stay in hotels. Paso Robles countryside is one of the premier areas in
California to ride bicycles because of the variety of roads and scenery
available for Rally riders to enjoy. Every year can be a different experience
for riders because there are such a variety of routes.
The Rally is a
great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a longer weekend ride. Families
and kids find the Rally a perfect event to spend some quality time together.
The Rally prides itself in introducing new riders, of all ages, to the sport.
All levels of riders attend as there is something for everyone.
Competitions and social activities are numerous at the Rally making it easy to
meet other people. If wine tasting is your thing, you will be coming to the
right place. Their over 130 tasting rooms in the area and of course, many of
the local restaurants featured those wines. Paso Robles is a delightful town
that is fun to visit. So come and play, stay.... oh and of course ride your
bike!
